Privacy policy
This page describes what data presentinspo.se processes and why. The data controller is Patrik Westin, reachable at hej@presentinspo.se.
Data you provide yourself
To create gift suggestions we need what you enter about the recipient: your relationship, roughly how old they are, gender if you state it, interests, the occasion, your budget, and the free text. You decide how much you write, and you need no account. If you create an account we store your email address, and if you sign in with Google your name and profile picture from there too. If you save a recipient we keep what you entered about them, such as a name or nickname, birth year, notes, and dates you want reminding about.
Keep in mind that this information is most often about someone other than you. Do not enter more about that person than it takes to find them a gift.
Data collected automatically
If you accept cookies we measure a small number of events to see how the service is used: that a search starts, that suggestions are created, that a link to a retailer is clicked, and a few more of the same kind. We do not record your screen, do not follow you across sites, and do not collect page views automatically. If you decline, nothing is sent. Regardless of your choice, technical errors are logged and the number of requests per IP address is counted to prevent abuse. If you sign in, the IP address and browser details for that session are also stored, as part of protecting the account.
The suggestions are created by an AI service
What you enter is sent to a language model that writes the suggestions. The provider is Anthropic or OpenAI depending on which model is selected, and that processing then happens outside the EU. This is why the free text deserves a thought: do not enter sensitive information about the recipient.
Cookies and browser storage
This is what is stored in your browser, and none of it is used for advertising tracking. Clearing your browser storage removes everything in the list.
- presentinspo_consent (local storage): your answer to the cookie question, so we do not ask again. Stays until you clear your browser.
- The sign-in cookie: keeps you signed in. Valid for 30 days, or until you sign out.
- pi_signed_in: a technical helper cookie so the right menu shows as soon as the page loads. Follows the sign-in and holds nothing about who you are.
- presentinspo_runs (local storage): your ten most recent searches, so you can find your way back to the suggestions. If you sign in, the list is sent once to link those searches to your account, and is then removed from the browser.
- NEXT_LOCALE: which language you picked when switching between Swedish and English. Holds only sv or en and is what keeps you on that language.
- PostHog (local storage): a random id that tells visitors apart in the statistics. Created only if you accept cookies.
- Temporary cookies during Google sign-in: needed to complete the sign-in and gone within minutes.
Who else processes the data
We do not sell data and do not share it for anyone else's marketing. To run the service we use:
- Vercel to run the site and Neon for the database
- Anthropic or OpenAI to create the gift suggestions
- Resend for email, such as sign-in codes and reminders
- PostHog (EU) for usage statistics under a random visitor id, only with your consent
- Sentry for error reports and Upstash for rate limiting
- Google, but only if you choose to sign in with Google
Several of these are US companies, so data may be processed outside the EU.
How long data is kept
Anything saved in an account stays until you remove it or ask us to delete the account. Gift suggestions are stored with the search they belong to, because a shared link to the results should still work later. Usage statistics are stored with PostHog under a random visitor id, with no name or email address attached.
Grounds for processing
What you enter is processed to deliver what you asked for, namely the gift suggestions and the features you choose to use. Usage statistics are processed only with your consent, which you can withdraw by clearing your browser storage. Error logs and rate limiting are needed to keep the service secure and working.
Your rights
You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to the processing. Email us and we will help. You can remove saved recipients directly under My account, and if you want the whole account deleted we do that when you email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can contact the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
